Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
Mixed feelings here. It's obviously it's too many bottles for a single flight, and likely impractical to change to a two-session lunch/evening tasting at this stage. In terms of reduction, the obvious candidates for removal to me would be the GC (we don't need multiple bottles, we can do that test another time) and not adding the suggested QH since we already have the BBR (which is QH). Happy for my FH to be dropped also, since I've brought one previously and it's not that good; personally I'd like to still include the Morano and Ducal as we've never seen them before, even if expectations might be low, so I'd suggest going for a mix of quality and unusual. The actual choice, of course, is Martin's, and we'll all have an excellent night's drinking whatever he decides.

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
Right - I've tweaked a little but it's quite hard .... I have in the back of my mind that George's BBR is actually produced by QH but I can;t find the message that says so .... George can you confirm please ?

I so confirm. “Berry's own selection shipped by Quarles Harris” to be precise. I am not sure if they are identical ports, I think it may be from a selection of casks, let me see if I can find the notes from the BBR tasting.

I think it is not identical, although some of the 1980s ones were.

Hi Everybody
It’s food time again
You all have two choices ….
1/. Do nothing – your entry on the default menu will be ordered – that includes if it’s blank !!
2/. Provide a food choice from the menu – if the default is blank then I’ll add this choice to it, if you already have a default then I will leave the default as is unless you ask me to update the default with this choice.
Download the default food order as a pdf from here.
This weeks menu can be found here

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
My notes from that tasting say that the 1980 was the identical wine to the straight Warre, which suggests that the 1977 wasn’t the identical wine to the straight Quarles Harris (although it will clearly be strongly similar).

I agree with Phil‘s suggestion regarding which bottles to include or exclude.

I'll have the slow roasted pork belly please (but don't change my default food order).
I agree with Phil's suggestion regarding which bottles to include/exclude. I am always interested in trying Ports I have not tried before.

Placemats - as requested by JDAW, I’m getting the placemats printed as trimmed down A2. The final version needs to be with me on the morning of Monday 10th. It won’t be possible to reprint them if anything changes after this.

Food order about to go in .... Ben & Cliff I've got you down for starters of 'freshly whipped air' followed by a generous helping of 'empty plate' with a desert of 'jealousy looking at the Welsh rarebit' next to you
Please let me know what you would actually like .....
