From magnum. Incredibly dark colour. Big fruit on nose. Big butch port on palate, slightly coarse, in this magnum format perhaps fifty years from ready.

Very dark. Not much on the nose to start with but evolved over the evening.
Plenty of fruit but with a slightly metallic note on the finish.

GC77, dark dark dark red, 80% opaque. First attempt: baga-tastic, with mid-palate cigarette smoke and black pepper. Baga!

Later still had the baga hollowness mid-palate.

From magnum.
70% opacity, deep dark red. Rich and lively bramble nose.
Lovely full and chewy mouthfeel, bramble, blackberry, super balance and a long bramble finish. Still some softening and evolution to come for this (in magnum).

Nose: red cherries with spice, but subtle
Palate: beautiful fruit heavy entry with chocolate and a touch of tobacco. Very spicy mid-palate with a lot of pepper. This is very young still! Tannic grip well into the finish which is full of red cherries. Lovely stuff - V good.

Gould Campbell 1977, from magnum: Very dark colour, very youthful. Wide rim. Glorious perfumed nose, full of ripe, sunny bramble. Smooth, satin texture. Bramble, black chemy and lovely tamins. A little menthol on the aftertate; dark chocolate and raspberry truffle finish. So bright on the sweet fruit finish. Wonderful, so full of life yet drinking beautifully. 95/100 and my joint top wine of the night. Decanted 4.5 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
