If anyone is in or near Bristol this weekend, you might like to celebrate São João at Xisto Wines festival. Xisto Wines have occasionally been mentioned on these pages - they are the people who import their stocks by sail and are one of the UK suppliers of Johnny Holzer’s fabulous Val da Figueira 10YO Tawny.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Given that it's 15 minutes walk from my house it would be rude not to... Thanks for the heads up!

If you do go, please tell Anton Mann (the owner of Xisto Wines) that you’re there because of my post on The Port Forum. He’s a really nice guy.

I did but he was extremely busy and seemed a little stressed!

Well, I hope it was a good event and that he can look back on it with relief it’s over and pride that he and Lela made it happen.

It was very busy and seemed to be going really well from a customer perspective - when I arrived he was off getting more wine from their cellars because they'd sold much more than expected and that was only late afternoon!
