1985 Berry Brothers

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Berry Brothers & Rudd 1985 from Smith Woodhouse, half bottle. A mature dark red colour, 50% opaque. Fresh fruit nose, mandarins and peaches. The fruit is ripe but quite dry on the palate. Evolved and mature but still on the primary side of its secondary phase of life. A wonderful palate — so complex. Beautiful mature fruit on both the palate and the aftertaste. Great length finish. A really lovely mature Port. Tasted 14-August-2024. 93/100. Served blind, was guessed to be Dow 1955.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
