1970 Rebello Valente

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Rebello Valente 1970, bottled by Berry Brothers. Deep orange in colour, slight green tone on the rim, approximately 50% opaque. Mature tawny nose, a little oxidised, buttery with bruised apricot and a hint of cigar. Tawny on the palate, bitter orange with intense acidity. The tannins have integrated fully, leaving only the acidity to give the structure. Big orange peel aftertaste and incredibly long finish. Long and very robust but entirely tertiary now. As Miguel said, “It aged too early, but it aged well.” 91/100. Drunk 18-August-2024 with Will Wiley and Miguel Souza Uva.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
