1963 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A mature and aged burnished copper colour; 50% opaque. Gentle and mature Port nose with a little spiced sweet fruit. Soft and mature fruit on the palate, with sweet brown sugar and lovely spiced redcurrant. A great texture and mouthfeel with a delicious freshness; lots of oranges on the palate. Fresh, balanced and very beautiful. Mature, but not old. Served blind, this was guessed to be Cockburn 1960. 93/100. Tasted 12-Aug-20. Decanted 20½ hours.

Tasted at the mid-COVID re-opening of the Boot & Flogger.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
