40% opacity, dull red. Not much on the nose. Lively red fruit, tannins and dryness.

Ex-cellars bottle from Quinta do Cachão, courtesy of Miguel Perreira at a tasting organised by Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

Deep red colour, 90% opaque at the centre. Subdued nose, a swirl releases the typical sweet redcurrant fruit, or perhaps it is raspberry. Raspberry fruit entry with a delicious cedar tannin undertone. Rich fruit on the palate, sour cherries on the aftertaste, fragrant and with great layers and a slight stickiness at the end. A very fine Port, drinking nicely now. 90/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 10 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
