1910 Offley

Post by jdaw1 »

An unknown brought by Tony and discovered to be 1910 Offley, tasted at the Heritage B&B near Weymouth on Friday 15th November 2024.

Offley 1910: pale orange 15%. Fabulous! One of the best century+ Ports I've ever had. Orange and grapefruit citrus, with the most marvellous mango-oil oleaginous texture. I’m so impressed.

Also see 1911 Sandeman.

Orange rather than red.

Nose of oil of cloves, dental surgery, marmalade and rhubarb. All in a good way - there's a lot going on.

Big sweet palate with considerable aniseed. Lovely thick texture.

Very long finish indeed.

Impressive, and undoubtedly still port, if fully mature.

Tasted 15/11/24.

Burnished orange/yellow in colour; lovely nose. Rich and sweet, lovely oily texture, delicious.
Possibly the only 1910 vintage port I've tasted, and a gem; much thanks to Tony for the chance to try this.
