2000 Osborne

Post by jdaw1 »

As organised by George G., on Monday 10th February 2025, Some of the usual folks gathered in the Boot & Flogger, for a horizontal of 2000s.

Woe betide! What has become of us‽ A horizontal of Port from this century. Yes yes, the world has other disasters afoot, but this disaster is afoot here: what has become of us‽

Os00. Dark red, 60% opaque. Light, dry, red dry cherries. Well enough made, but not a contender.

Os00: Mature appearance, 80% opaque. Sweet berry nose, attractive. Light bodied, sweet and very tasty. Simple palate, but a wine which is very nicely put together. Gentle tannins on the late palate. Gentle grip, ripe fruit aftertaste with a little menthol at first. Rather lovely, in a gentle sort of way. 89/100
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
