1977 Graham

Post by jdaw1 »

An emergency was declared for Monday 14th April 2025, at the Boot & Flogger.

A 1977 was proffered, so another was, so another was, and the planning attracted towards an evening of 1977s. This is good.

A 12bt OWC from C&B Broking in March 2023.
OWC was brand new and bottles looked freshly labelled, so assumed to be a late release of stock from somewhere.
Capsule and cork original and in OK condition.
Decanted 0815-0830 on morning of the tasting. In decanter for approximately seven hours before going back into the bottle.

Admirable colour. Still a lot of fire. Age heat or youth heat? Imperfect?

Graham 1977. Dark red, very similar to the Warre. More attractive on the nose with sweet and ripe redcurrant fruit. Elegant fruit, fully expressive on the palate with a lovely acidic structure. Delicious red and bramble finish. Great length. A really fine wine. 92/100.

I didn't notice the heat that George commented on.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
