1985 Smith Woodhouse

Post by jdaw1 »

As organised by Neil C., some regulars and at least one first-timer gathered at the Boot and Flogger to taste 1985s at Forty.

Double decanted at 0900. Cork out smoothly and in one piece. Nose all fine.

SW85, red, 40% opaque. Silky and lovely, with slightly-burnt caramel, heat, but no fruit. Liked. Texture very fine.

45% opacity, mature red. Cranberries on the nose. Full and rich, syrupy cranberries, little bit of spice, faint bitterness in the finish. Nice. One point.
