Sounds reasonable.

My N & Ch will be decanted Monday evening, 4ish hours in decanter and then back in bottle and VacUVined.

Have fun tomorrow chaps. I will be very interested to read what you think of the wines.

20ish years ago, when I was backfilling gaps in my cellar, I ended up buying quite a lot of 1985 and have plenty of it left to drink — but it’s a vintage I’ve been a bit underwhelmed by.

But I’ve never had the chance to do a side-by-side comparison like you’re doing tomorrow. Please share your thoughts and impressions.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

You were at the horizontal of 1985s in Nov 2015 (and even posted TNs such as for Cálem); and at the {1980, ’85, ’85} × {D, W, G, F, T} with Jancis in March 2017 (e.g. TN, Fonseca).

I accept the rap across the knuckles; well deserved for being lazy in my writing.

I have not had the chance to participate in a side-by-side tasting of the 1985 Port vintage for many years and remain rather underwhelmed by them - on the whole and generalising unashamedly.

My bottles opened at 8.30 this morning, stood and then doubled decanted at 1pm.

Allowing for GB railways delay (so, no change from SWR) eta just after 6.30pm. Therefore, please curb any over enthusiasm of the staff when it comes to the timing of the food!
