1955 Gonzalez Byass. Evolved brick red colour, verging on bronze; 30% opaque. Lovely redcurrant jelly nose. Smooth palate, gentle sweet red berry fruit with a little soapiness on the aftertaste. Jellied red fruit finish. Perfectly nice, fully evolved. 89/100. (UK u/k). One from my cellar.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
