Was this bottle a later cellar release? I didn't think bar codes were in wide use around 1977.

It must have been. It has an IVDP sello. I don’t remember exactly when the IVP became the IVDP, but it was certainly after 1977.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

IVP -> IVDP in 2003 according to my selo notes; so 2003+ release. No idea when bar codes started appearing on the labels.

Apols Mike - I completely missed your question. I picked the bottle up from Seckfords in the UK, so not sure of original provenance. In the interim, Alex and Phil have added some colour!

No worries Mike. It was more of a general question thrown out there for anyone to answer. The bar code just threw me seeing that on a '77.
