NV Adega de Favaios Moscatel du Setubal

Light brown clear shade. On the palate a light, sweet, pleasant, but not exceptional example of the genre, a bit monochromatic in its exalted company. Also, suffered from being served with out any accompanying food, I feel.

Faivos is a cooperative based near Vila Real in the northern Douro Valley. They are the largest producer of fortified moscatel in the Douro region.

Deep butterscotch colour, 20% opaque. Gentle white peach and bruised oranges on the nose. Soft white peaches on the palate, gentle and sweet but with enough acidity to keep some freshness. White peach and dusty icing sugar on the aftertaste and a very sweet, sugary Royal Icing finish. Very sweet and lacking a little acidity to be great. 85/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
