75% opacity, deep dark red. Nose a bit closed. Tannic entry, gentle heat early, big, peppery, dark fruit, some sweetness.

A deep red colour, very dark and opaque. Very little on the nose but a vigorous and lively palate with lots of acidity and plenty of tannin. Modest fruit at first with the tannins dominating, dry and with a hint of cocoa powder in the late arriving raspberry coulis. Dry but fruity on the aftertaste with a great green tannin finish of enormous length. This has great power and body and will be very good when it reaches its plateau. 91/100. Decanted 4½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
