Bring a bottle - Tue 18th Nov (formerly 2nd Dec) 2025

Post by BRPetrie »

Ladies and gents!

It’s been ages since we had a good BYO, so I’m proposing we echo the evening of December 2nd 2024 at the Boot & Flogger.

You know the drill - bring a bottle(s) of port of your choosing (plus any extra odds and ends that you think may be enjoyed by those assembled).

Register interest below!

Maybe...

Put me down and I'll drop out if the diary becomes too congested.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Ben, 2 questions:
(1) - is the room booked?
(2) - blind or sighted?

(1) email has been sent to the B&F, shall advise shortly.
(2) I think sighted in general, but no objection to one or two blind bottles - would welcome any thoughts.

Dear all,

After consulting Ollie of the B&F, it transpires we’d need to pay a minimum of £120 a head in order to secure the booking for the 2nd Dec …

However, Tuesday 18th Nov has now become vacant following the rescheduling of the 1995 evening, and Ollie has confirmed that we’d not be restricted by the minimum spend on that evening.

In light of this, I have replied to secure the room on Nov 18th, and would appreciate if everyone can confirm they are able to make the new date!!

Sorry I didn't know this was blind. Keep it blind, I will bring a 5th blind one. The Raby's are being opened so that those who haven't tried them, get to.

I prefer sighted. With blind my effort goes into what-is-it?. With sighted my effort goes into how-much-do-I-love-this?. I prefer the latter question.

I do think I agree with this!

If no major objections, I vote we make this a sighted tasting :)
