RP70: dark dark red, 70% opaque; ooh interesting, oleaginous smooth, soft, caramel, big rich. Liked.

1970 Ramos Pinto. Mature Ruby red colour, 60% opaque. Attractive jellied red berry fruit on the nose. A little harsh on the palate with a bitterness to the acidity overwhelming the mature fruit on the wine. Slightly bitter cranberry dominates the palate, aftertaste and finish. Pleasant enough, but far inferior to some of the wines tasted today. 87/100. Double decanted 10 hours. Oporto bottled.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

[Sample taken on night and consumed on 13/10/25] Excellent rich red. Nose of summer pudding. Palate is lively and beautifully balanced with a sort of cranberry bakewell tart quality. I really like this and would actively seek it out.
