1970 Maynard, bottled 2021. Dark brown colour, a touch of bricking. Torrefacted sugar, toffee with just a hint of orange on the nose. On the palate the wine shows a surprising dryness with a rich orange and a gorgeous acidity. A lovely, flavoursome aftertaste with a concentrated orange — but one where the finish drips off quite suddenly. Despite this, it is a lovely glass of wine. 92/100.
Tasted at the pre-event lunch to the Grand 1970 Tasting on 2-3 October 2025.
