KL70: dark red, 70% opaque; dry, great balance, very long. Not top-rank, but very very drinkable.

Bought Bonhams New Bond Street, auction of 17 March 2009, lot 460 (14×KL70 + 5×QH77 + 5×N75 + 1×OBV72), hammer £440, invoice £515.90.

1970 Kopke São Luíz. Mature rose red colour, 60% opaque. Slightly tainted by bottle stink on the nose but on the palate the wine is better with some sweet fruit backed by gentle tannins. Light and lacking, delivering some heat on the aftertaste before a pleasant redcurrant settles in. Drinkable, but not with much enthusiasm. 81/100. Oporto bottled. Double decanted 8 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

[Sample taken on night and consumed on 13/10/25] A good rich clear red, pink rim. Nose distinctly stinky. Palate really quite vegetal, only residual fruit. A shame.
