Ben P. arranged a Bring a Bottle event, sighted, at the Boot & Flogger. And what an evening it was.

N63, bottled by Grants of St James’s. red-brown, 35% opaque. Very mature, bitter mid-palate, and soft burnt caramel late palate. Long ending, but this is far past prime.

It’s not rare enough that I need to preserve for tastings, and one of the ’63 babies on this forum has, in effect, unbounded supplies. Hmm: do I smell thirsty in-laws at Christmas?

Yellow rim. A bit acrid at first, but developed beautifully in glass before then drooping like a superannuated poppy.
