20% opacity, dull copper orange. Ripe apricots on the nose. Rich mouthfeel, some gentle acidity mid palate, lovely fruit - apricot orange, great balance and structure.

Appears to have been decanted and recorked many years ago. Bottled in 1937 by William Standring Sandeman & Heatley Ltd of 59 Duke Street, Grosvenor Square, London W1. Dark butterscotch colour, 20% opaque. Dirty nose with lots of acidity and a touch of VA. Smooth texture bringing flavours of butterscotch and clementine. Alive on the palate but quite tertiary. Lots of heat on the aftertaste with a bitter orange oil on the good length and big finish. 86/100. Decanted 3 hours.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
