30% opacity, mature red. Smooth entry, then gentle heat & acidity. Lip-licking sweetness, apricot orange, lovely balance.

Mature rose red colour, mature but not elderly appearance; a great colour and 30% opaque. Very little on the nose, which is a little harsh and carrying some sour berry. Lively entry, sweet and poised with delicious flavours. A big mouthful of fruit, black fruit pastilles. Sweet aftertaste with just a hint of green at the start of the aftertaste. A long finish of liquorice root that mixes bitter with sweetness very nicely. Delicious drinking. 91/100. Decanted 3½ hours.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
