35% opacity, mature red. Strawberry on the nose. Some bitterness, but lovely strawberry, great structure.

Deep red with mature tones, 50% opaque. Gentle red jelly nose that is quite closed. Sweet red jelly shows on the entry; is nicely balanced with some tannins still showing. There is less acidity than in the 1963 tasted alongside and the balance is not quite as good on the mid- late-palate. Sweet and a little cloying on the finish. Less impressive and enjoyable than the 1963. 88/100. Decanted 5 hours.
