Dark red, not mature but not young either; 70% opaque. A lovely perfumed nose with lots of lavender in the dark loganberry fruit. The fruits leads on entry, sweet and a bit jellied. Lacking a little acidity to keep the balance and freshness perfect but there are plenty of tannins giving a good grip on the palate. A delightful aftertaste with lots of perfume and blackberry fruit accompanied by gentle tannins and liquorice. A nice Port but the '83 is better. 86/100. Decanted 8½ hours.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
