Ferreira VP Vertical - March 19, 2026

On the off chance that someone from the U.S. sees this and is interested, John M. and I are hosting a Ferreira vertical next Thursday, March 19 at a
country club in Central Jersey. Dinner will be served and the all in cost per person will be approximately $200. A total of 11 Ferreira's will be served along with a Mystery Port.

If anyone is interested, please reach out to me by next Tuesday (March 17). Of course, if anyone wants to fly in from the UK for this tasting we'd be more than happy to have you.

Very cool bottle. Is that an old SQVP by Ferreira? Maybe you can fly in and join us this Thursday (and bring the bottle along please)?

The one John and I picked isn't even as remotely mysterious as that one, but we're certain that Roy hasn't had it before. I would dare say that not many people on either forum have had it before. Roy is bringing one as well, so his will probably be a little more mysterious than ours.

Unfortunately I can't make it to the tasting as I have to be here on Saturday to host our Port Club meeting.

It's an old Ferreira, but not an SQVP. There's a small strip label on the otherwise blank front that says it is a "Rich and Very Fine Old Tawny" which, since it is year dated, makes it a Colheita with an unknown bottling date.

Andy thinks it might have been bottled in the 1960s. To me it looks older than that... my guess would be late 1940s or 1950s. My guess is in part based on the fact that it didn't feel like a Colheita with 40 years in wood to me... more like 25 or 30.

There is a current Quinta dos Aciprestes ('i' instead of 'y') that is owned by RCV and is a combination of 3 older quintas. We suspect that this came from one of the older quintas before it was purchased and merged.
