Disappointing to hear this, the bottle at the Vesuvio tasting we held in Feb 24 was also corked (but from different source). I hope this is not a trend.
So, assuming the bottle that Alex noted in 2013 to have been a sample with a different cork, the (statistically invalid) ratio of corked bottles appears a bit disturbing. I am willing to contribute to the cost of purchasing another bottle from a different cellar to those tasted so far, to see if we are three consecutive times unlucky.
I opened a 2011 Capela in July of 2025 and it was not corked. It was out-classed by the regular 2011 Vesuvio opened with it, though. My scores were 93+ and 95 respectively.
This was for Port Club, so there were plenty of people present who could have detected TCA had it been a bad bottle.
