Cheeky Vimtos!

Post by Conky »

Feel free to move this to Wines & Spirits.....But,

Have you heard of the new drink that is becoming a craze in my region, and maybe else where? Its the... wait for it... the Cheeky Vimto.
Now if I haven't lost you already, you'll be asking what relevance has this has got on a Port Forum. Well, the ingredients are, a large glass of Port, ice and a bottle of Blue Wicked. All in a high ball glass, mixed with an optional straw. It costs a fortune and is rapidly becoming a must have drink of the young.
If you google it, it does actually exist as a cocktail on those type of sites. Be careful if you do explore such sites, as your probably aware, other cocktails have some very rude names. Try this page which is clean.
Now of course this is a double edged sword, but the local trendy pubs are stocking up with loads of cheap ports. Its supposed to taste like the soft drink, Vimto, but with a kick! (And no, I haven't.)

You heard it here first.

Port and lemonade, eh love?

Classic woman’s drink until, I believe, the 1960s.

It gets worse. Blue wicked is described as Vodka with Blue coloured, bubblegum/blue raspberry flavoured, sweet, carbonated water. A classic Alcopop.

So all that, plus ice, plus a large Port. Yummy!

I am becoming tempted to try one. Just because it doesn't make sense.

If this drink ever makes it across the Atlantic , It will need to be fortified .

In fact , If this concoction makes It across , I will need to be fortified . . .

I have now tried this concoction. I had a fantastic evening out with my niece, nephew and a couple of their friends on Saturday. We ended up in a two-for-one cocktail bar in Accrington (leave it!) I ordered a pair of Black Russians and the rest, en masse, had Cheeky Vimtos. As they finished off their drinks they decided to get pitchers of the damned things, so I had to have a taste. It tastes like Vimto, exactly. Five pitchers later we were heading off, in a meandering manner, to the next place.

I quite like Vimto. This stuff is lethal.

Holy cow, that's a lot of alcohol mixed together. I'm sure anyone who drinks this won't be cheeky the next morning :nirvana:

We were all off to a multiple Christening the next morning. Only one failed to arrive, the rest of us were as bright as buttons.
