Since Taylor offloaded the Morgan stocks at Christies in February 2007, I have drunk my fair share of these.
Initially, I was very impressed with the port and rated it quite highly. However, I've been looking back at my notes over the last 16 months and there is a definite trend downwards with the acidity showing more strongly and the fruit being less pronounced.
I'm convinced that this is still a very solid and decent port, but I am wondering whether this is an example of a port going through a secondary closed period. I have read occasionally about ports not just closing down once, but that they do so a number of times during their evolution before emerging from the chrysalis at their next stage of maturity.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Alex
