Mature VP for sale - £5/bottle!

Post by uncle tom »

Yes, it's true!

The wine is Kopke '83, and it's a rather sad stash of bottles, many of which show signs of seepage - my guess is that they were probably stored upright for most of their lives, and then started to leak when someone tried to rack them. The labels are substantially decayed, so I suspect they were otherwise reasonably cellared.

After arriving today, I've just decanted the worst offender, and find it to be a perfectly acceptable mature quaffer.

Out of a stash of 34 bottles, I'm offering half of them for just £5 each. Levels range from TS to BN

Please put green stickers on 6

If the others don't sell I will happily take 12.

Derek,

please save 6 for me. When they hold tight I would take them home in the suitcase on October 8th.

Obrigado

I've just sorted through them all.

I plan to drink another weakling and then re-wax the best dozen before stowing them in the cellar. That leaves 14 x £5 bargain bottles plus another 6 that have levels that are just in neck.

If Axel wants half a dozen to take home on the plane, it might be better if I re-wax the better half dozen and let him have those - that way there's a good chance they'll survive the flight without leaking - I'm happy to let him have those for £40 re-waxed.

Ben wants half a dozen, so that would leave 8 for Derek.

- Does that leave everyone happy?

Tom.

Sounds very fair and happy to trust you on best and most equitable basis of distribution. These will not have a long shelf life for me!

Will you send me a pm with bank details for settlement. Will try and arrange trip to Braintree so i can collect!

Tom,

thanks a mil for reserving the port. Will it be o.k. if I provide you with the money in October? Will you be arriving at London by train or by car?

I will be arriving at Stansted at 07:25 am and I am pretty sure that this will be too early for you to start going to London? At what time will you be departing?

Is it possible that you will bring me 2 bottles of the Morgan VP 91 as well? I think we already agreed on the price, didnt we?

By the way: do you think the Nacionals 97 are overpriced or what is the reason of your dislike?

All the best
