With all the turmoil in the financial markets, perhaps we need a distraction! I am generally available in London and have a week "home alone" from 29th September to 6th October. Regretably there was a date change due the the MIL's availability! At least 8th October was on the calendar!

Sorry: can’t make 30th Sept, as I’m in the Douro.

That's a pity, because you count as a Brit when on this side of the pond whereas most of the time we think of you as a Yank.jdaw1 wrote:Sorry: can’t make 30th Sept, as I’m in the Douro.

I did not consider the earlier correspondence confidential, and see no reason for it to be so, but given Derek’s reply, ought to treat it as such. Sorry Ben.

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

The emails have been deleted, so this is from memory. Derek was about to drink several bottles of port with a third party. He said that he wanted me to come and assist with the drinking. I replied that, excluding things said by women before, well, you know, that was the nicest thing anybody had ever said to me.benread wrote:......................................????????????????????????????????

Anyone in London before Christmas? I am very disappointed not to be able to make the "official" TPF Christmas do and wonder if we can arrange a London version?DRT wrote:Come on lads, they Yanks seem to be having more off-lines than us these days![]()

I'm around and with no plans on November 20th. Does that date work at all? Otherwise, choose a date and I'll see what I can arrange.

I can manage blind, over 30 years old, colheitas R Us and anyone for a '63 (but only a colheita). Another idea for consideration - bring your initial. I would bring any port starting with B or R and I think there are options for the 3 of us. A slight variation on blind.DRT wrote:20th November works for me. Three is a quorum. We're on![]()

Re: Calling All Brits & Euros!!!
I’m also free on the 20th, if you could move up to 4. I don’t have any Vesuvio or 1994 (as I am yet to find either of them at a non-insane price) but, like Ben, could do any of the blind, colheita, over 30 or ’63!
In terms of initials, I have never encountered a bottle of Quinta do Javali, nor Hutchinson’s but could probably manage something starting with a G!

And whilst December and January are at least represented with offlines in the UK, it seems to be about 40-love to the "yanks" in February and March courtesy of JDAW1's possible return to the old world!DRT wrote:Come on lads, they Yanks seem to be having more off-lines than us these days![]()

I shall be in Chamonix on 22nd, 23rd and 24th January, consuming some port with 2 like minded friends. 1 of whom has attended an offline at least! Anyone else in the vicinity is welcome to join us for a few glasses! (Of whatever Gatwick airport has available!)
Monday 26th January is also an option as the wife is away that night - London area.

Re: Calling All Brits & Euros!!!
I was thinking that last year in January we had several offlines, including the "Deeper Underground" 1966 Horizontal, the "Up North" 1985 Horizontal and Tsunami's Blind Offline
We definitely need at least one TPF general offline in January. 26th will be a little difficult for me but I know I will be in London and free in the evenings of January 13 and 14, if anyone is free to meet up in London on either of those nights. I have some interesting bottles from which I can choose - bottles I would like to share with other port lovers.

Re: Calling All Brits & Euros!!!
13th or 14th January are possible for me - my preference would be for the lower cost option of TCP if so. Certainly have at least 1 bottle that fits the "port I would like to get a second opinion on" or "share" category. One more positive response and we can start a specific thread!
