1955 - a salutation..

Post by uncle tom »

I don't know of any 1955 that has more to offer, but most are showing really well now.

Maybe April - May '09 - a grand horizontal perhaps..??

Date.. Venue.. ?

London?

I’d love to attend a 1955 horizontal, but ideally it would be later in the year.

LadyR and I have one lone bottle of 1955 Warre at Derek's waiting for a good occassion to be opened. This would be perfect... but... it doesn't look like we'll be in the UK anytime soon. :(

We will visit the Netherlands though in the last week of April 2009. Utrecht is a nice city for offlines... :wink:

In 1955 I have only:
  • Taylor;
  • Warre;
  • Unknown.
Also, to remind people, 1955 was the year of foundation of The Cambridge University Tiddlywinks Club, and hence I am always trying to accumulate budget 1955s to serve at important Annual Dinners of that club.

I have ten shippers of '55 at present, but only 38 bottles in total. Most notable absentees are Croft, Delaforce, Martinez and Niepoort (I had a badly ullaged Croft, which I have just drunk..)

Next autumn would be fine by me, maybe we can pick a date that will work for the Roots..?

It's very difficult for us to say when we'll be able to come over, so you should go ahead with the planning, and we'll see if we can manage to join. I would love to... this is a very interesting theme.

I'm certainly interested in a 1955 horizontal. It's a vintage from which I have precious few bottles and rarely drink.

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
