Friday 13th February: Graham vertical in New York
Re: Graham vertical in New York
Are we in fact going to have this tasting?
Re: Graham vertical in New York
I hope so. We are just struggling to agree the date.
The most likely currently seems to be Fri 13th or Sat 14th February 2009. It might be that our other halves have other plans for the 14th, so let’s say that we’re aiming for the unlucky for some 13th.

I’m in England. And they’re (partly) my bottles.

And Jay's, but you're right. I didn't realize you'd be away then.jdaw1 wrote:I’m in England. And they’re (partly) my bottles.
New date: Friday, February 13th.
Jay, you mentioned hosting a while ago. Is that offer still on the table?
Re: Graham vertical in New York
I am fine with the Feb 13.
Re: Graham vertical in New York
Friday 13th February works for me. Thread title changed.
For us married chaps so much better than the 14th of February, on which day in 2008 we had a tasting.

Where are we with this tasting? I count Julian, Jay, Josh, Eric (?) and Jeff (?). Who else? We have many more bottles than tasters at the relatively relaxed New York limit of one bottle per person.

Although not one of the New York Tasters, I feel obliged to declare that it is incumbent on you who are to maintain this fine and honourable tradition.jdaw1 wrote:Friday 13th February works for me. Thread title changed.

Disagreements.
• I do not acknowledge the limit imposed by Jay. Seven for four at the most recent tasting (though Eric D did have to come back the following day to help tidy).
• So Derek wants us to damage our relationships with our loved ones, so that after many years and marriages have passed enough of a precedent is set for him to try it once. Very noble of you Derek.
But we are a bit light of people. Now that plans are firmed I will invite the NY tasters again.

I am interested. Are we also including Malvedos? Perhaps a Malvedos only vertical would be more interesting...

I have tried it once. I just haven't tried it with my now better-half.jdaw1 wrote:• So Derek wants us to damage our relationships with our loved ones, so that after many years and marriages have passed enough of a precedent is set for him to try it once. Very noble of you Derek.

Re: Friday 13th February: Graham vertical in New York
Hi there. Can you count me in please for Fri Feb 13. In the mean time, please know that I am on an on-call list for work for that same time frame. If I were to need to come in to work, I would know about it a week ahead of time. (IOW, count me in but if I have to work, I will give notice if I can't come). I read there are bottles available. Does that mean there are some up for adoption?

Excellent good to have you with us. We currently have too few people (I’m reluctant to say too many bottles), so adopting will be the way forward.

Re: Friday 13th February: Graham vertical in New York
Actually, I am wondering if we need both of the grahams I have (both because I have precious few left and given the small # of people). What if we dropped the 83 (of which I have only 1, and there are dozens of notes on) and went with the 80 (which I have 3 of, but which there is only a single note on)?
Re: Friday 13th February: Graham vertical in New York
Let’s save the bottle-pruning decisions for the last moment, after we know how many people there are.

Ahhh the v-day/wife's bday/ back from honey moon for a week and a half tasting.
I'm a big IF on this one, leaning towards probably can't make it.

I am waiting to see how this develops before I pop the idea on my girlfriend that I am going to NYC for the weekend with her... On Valentine's Day. Not that we "celebrate" it and she also wants to go to NYC. She can hold her own on the port drinking too. Maybe she'll join too?

Moses: you and your girl are in. Send me her email address, and I'll ‘mis-address” an email to you.

By next week, I need to let my storage facility know what, if anything, to ship.
Do we have only six attendees so far?

Let me talk it over with the better half and see what we can do.
'75 is a rare vintage. Should be able to get '66 or maybe something older? I have '85 '80 '83...
