2007 Niepoort vintage port

Young and red in colour. Smells of sharp and unripe blackcurrant. Very acidic, aggressive in the mouth - almost painfully so. Takes a long time to fade. Eventually, the fruit comes through. Little tannin shows through. The aftertaste is lacking immediate impact but the finish lasts for a while. Not a great showing. 86-88. Drunk 26 June 2009.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
