I vaguely recall that one 1981 VP does exist, but I can't remember it's name...

Despite being damned as a rubbish year, consequent of acute drought followed by violent storms during vintage, there were a number of LBV's made.

However, I havn't tried any, as the birth year merchants tend to fight over them when they come to auction.. :roll:

Liddel lists Infantado and Vargellas as the only two 1981 VPs. No other author that I have encountered lists any. I have had confirmation of all known declarations of Vargellas from taylor Fladgate and 1981 was not listed, suggesting that Liddel perhaps tasted a cask sample that was not subsequently declared.

Uncle Tom listed Infantado in the data he sent me a few months ago but I have no other proof that it was actually declared.

Dear friends,

1981 as well as 1993 there was only one declaration:

1981 - Quinta do Infantado - I've at least 3 bottles of this one and tasted at least 2 times;
1993 - Quinta das Liceiras (owned by Qta da Romaneira);

Not Port, but from Douro and worth seeking is Barca Velha which has a 1981 vintage...

Ive had just looked in Henrik Oldenborgs book.... 1981 had only one vintage just like Gustavo wrote.
1981 A very hot year in the Douro

Oldenborg wrote ... drink now (the book is from 2004)
Any time not spend drinking port, is a waste of time.
