Here is a good one I picked up from my recent trip to Oporto:
What port producer derives its name from what the Romans called the city of Oporto?
You can figure this out in 15 seconds using Google, so lets have honest guesses, or just say if you know the answer. I'll respond in a day or two. Bill

Re: Port trivia question
It took me a lot more than fifteen seconds on Google, and I'm still not sure if the name and the port producer are linked..
Good bit of trivia though..!

Re: Port trivia question
Well... I know the original Roman name for the city, but beyond that I'd be guessing. So I'll say I think I know the answer and let others have a chance too.

Re: Port trivia question
If i'm not mistaken, that is probably Calém.
The original name of the city is Portus Cale so i think that it's probably this.
Am i right?
I didn't search on Google!

Yes! And Raul Alex, you win an all expenses paid trip to Oporto, Portugal! Congratulations!
As I understand it, the Roman name for Oporto was Cale, which was lengthened to Oportus Cale after the end of the Empire, and eventually shortened again to Oporto.
Calem was founded by Antonio Calem in the 19th century, whose name was certainly derived from his ancestors who must have lived in or around the Roman city.

Re: Port trivia question
That was my guess as well. There are several spellings of the original name - "Portus Calae" and "Portucale" seem to be fairly common along with Portus Cale - so I figured Calem was probably related in some way.
