1 x Warre's Otima 20-yr Old Tawny Port (outrageous price at $44, but I really wanted to try it)
12 x 1985 Churchill's Vintage Port (to be this winter's house Port, minus one bottle for my 1985 horizontal)
1 x 1985 Hooper's Vintage Port (bringing me to 20 bottles in the horizontal)

I got the Churchill's for $26.50/bottle, which seems like a good price anywhere but especially in the US.

Hoping to get a delivery tomorrow courtesy of a rather nice chap from this forum. Fingers crossed...

Fonseca 70. A & N bottlings and a few John Harvey bottlings - like to compare these to Mentzendorff's.
So delicious right now, and at 90 quid per- fantastic QPR - not a bad bet for current drinking and "immediate gratification" between Xmas and New Year. 88)
Cheers, victor

The ’97 needs a multi-day decant to be drinkable.

Julian, thanks for the hint. Most of the 1997 seem to be closed down. That's why I leave them alone since some time.
2005 Rozès VP is very fruity but rather lean. At that price worth a try.

Michael,

I have shared two bottles of the 97 with Julian recently and the problem wasn't to do with the fact that it was closed down it was just that it was horribly astringent and hot when first opened but seemed to soften and become drinkable as they integrated over the course of a few days in the decanter.

Derek,

I have some bottles of this VP. I must admit, the 2 or 3 bottles a I had so far never wowed me. I found it to be quite boring. I allways tought it to be in a suboptimal phase. But I did not try extended aeration until now. I should make a new try and accommodate yours advices.

The Rz97 isn’t great. But at D+0 it is undrinkably astringent and tanky; by day 4 it is pleasantly drinkable though still rather basic.

We had the same experience with their 1994 LBV. Rz is actually an excellent bottle for bars to keep around, it's inexpensive and does well sitting around.
