1884 Sandeman vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very pale, a light straw colour. Smelly on the nose, smelling very strongly of rosemary and antiseptic. Sweet in the mouth, very tertiary with dry nut-skins and showing real frailty. A sweet, light and tawny aftertaste and a good length. Very lovely and delicate. 80/100. Drunk 17 Dec 2009.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Translucent pale orange. Nosing of soap. BMHR and SRG said ‟paraffin”. Later AHB said ‟rosemary”.

To taste: ‟awful”; ‟dead, long ago”.
