I have been told I can expect my 91 next week, and as no-one else has put that forward Daren will bring that, if that is alright by everyone. I will find out what bottle the plus one is bringing and let you know.

A cask sample of Vesuvio 2008 arrived at my house today, a generous donation to our line-up from Dom Symington

The Symington's have not yet finalised their blends for the 2008 vintage so I have been asked to let you all know that this is still a "work in progress" sample.

Claire,

Have added Darren and a +1 as attending on my original post. Assume the "+1" is yourself? Will start arriving from about 6.30pm but if you cannot get there until a bit later do not worry - I am certain some of the attendees will not arrive before 7.30pm or so and we would always ensure known attendees do not miss out on any wines opened early.

If Darren's +1 would like to bring the 1990, then let me know. I'm sure that I can persuade Cookie to adopt a bottle of the 2007 from me instead.

If it helps: Jacob is adopting a 1997 from me. Jacob is welcome to switch to adopting either the 1990 from AHB or the 2004 from Cookie and I will adopt the 1997 from myself. Either way, all three are now in the line-up.

AHB, please stop trying to scupper the master plan!

We NEED 1989 and 2001. Capela('s) is(are) a bonus but not essential in achieving completeness of a Vesuvio Vertical.

I think AHB is being very unfair. He and I and a few others have reached a state of Vesuvio Completeness previously whilst others have not yet had the pleasure of that experience.

I agree that Completeness will be a temporary state, but so are many pleasurable things in life

According to wine searcher there is a 2001 in Suffolk for £35.

For smaller events TCP is good. But for larger events, with more bottles and people, I find it too crowded and airless.

I agree with you that TCP is not ideal for large tastings. But I agree with Ben that cancellation of an event of this scale that is less than two weeks away would be bad form.

Very well, but definitely the loudest tasting I have ever attended. And the most women in attendance at any Port tasting in my lifetime. I have no idea whether or not those two facts are related.
