1900 Borges Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 1947. Cloudy and a very dark chestnut brown, holding strongly into the rim. A subdued nose with some medicinal notes and some molasses, but strangely hollow. Thick entry into the mouth, sweet but with balancing acidity following in the mid-palate. Plenty of fruit and complexity. Good aftertaste which starts extremely well and lasts a good long time. A potentially great wine that is let down by the nose. 92/100. Drunk 1 July 2007.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
