The Yank is thirsty! TCP this Monday (April 19th)

Post by Chris Doty »

Been in the States the last few weeks, and haven't attended a port tasting in nearly a month now (!?)

OK - we have very strong interest in a TCP Classic on the 19th (Boardroom, 7pm). Dry trousers and full bottles preferred.

We're gonna go blind unless I hear any strong objections (weak objections will be ignored, as I am in American after all).

Well, a little more notice would have facilitated my reaching London from Paris.

Also, a more specific theme can help. For instance, try ‟who would like to help drink a vertical of Quinta do Noval from the 1930s?”. That usually gets interest.

Sorry, Chris. I'm 200 miles away and won't be in London this week.

Good luck finding a Port-buddy

Sunday nights are always difficult. Plus I have a serious chance of backing the winner at the Masters, which could fund some more port!

This evening’s tasting. Presumably the other Brits did something similar they usually do.

Sunday nights are tough for me to make, plus I wasn't in the UK either

but I'm in London tomorrow (April 15) if you're still thirsty...

This has the potential to be a classic TPF night. If I can swing it I may bring one of these!

Thanks for the responses, gang!

Sorry to hear you won't be able to join us, Wolfgang. We'll hold out hope that the volcanic ash interfering with your diary clears out by monday night :)

Alex -- would you mind booking the boardroom for us?

Anyone want to suggest a theme (e.g., 1970?) or should it be just a bring it blind kind of a thing?

Ok -- without objection we will rule in favor of a tin foil party at TCP on Monday.

Shall we shoot for 7pm?

Chris,

A lesson here in British sensibility: Alex George Bumberry-Warburton-Symington-Smythe Bridgemam, HRD, FGD, OBG may not appreciate being referred to as "Bridge". That is why we always address him by his official title of "Bridgy".

Owing to circumstances beyond my control (three consecutive nights out involving quantities of alcohol that were in excess of the recommended daily amounts), I am having to wimp out of this offline. Gone soft, if you like. Though I look forward to another sometime soon :D

Do we have / need placemats?

If I hear nothing with the next couple of hours, I will assume the answers are "no" and "yes"...

Also, if anyone gets to TCP before me can you please try to sweet-talk them into providing a funnel and decanter? I have unfortunately failed in my double-decanting responsibilities...
