1970 Dow Vintage Port

Post by griff »

This bottle was culled as there were old stains around the top. Fill down but still just in the neck.

0 hours: A pale red with clear rim. Tastes of aged dark rum (brown sugar) and liquorice. Long and sweet palate. Slightly warm finish.

6 hours: Colour deepening in intensity and hue. Red-brown colour with pale rim. Medium weight palate of chocolate and cacao with some tawny-like rancio notes starting to develop on the finish. Very long and integrated.

A very good port that was more developed than expected. Perhaps due to poor conditions earlier in its life.

cheers

Carl
