Proposed planning for the evening:
Start at 6PM with some drinks and some simple but tasty dinner. Start of tasting around 7.30-8PM.
Joost has enough glasses to supply everyone with 2 glasses, which means we can taste the port in pairs. That should give us some fun comparing vintages that are likely to be somehow alike.
If anyone needs directions to Joost's house please send him a PM.

Thanks for making placcemats Julian. Actually, I don't know the full names of all the participants, so probably best use the handles I wrote above.

First
draft of the placemats . Comments please.
Questions:
Will you want decanter labels? Place names (does everybody know everybody)? Glasses could be squeezed onto two sheets if space is tight: is it?

Very, very late, but is it still possible to attend?
I would provide the Guimaraens 1984.

I will not be able to change the placemats after Friday 2nd July, a week ahead of the tasting. Hence it might be better if comments, and particularly requested changes, could be received sooner rather than later.

The tasting-note sheets have column titles:
Times (meaning decanting and drinking times); Eye; Nose; Mouth; Score. Please translate into Dutch.

Google translator says that:
Time
Appearance
Smell
Taste
Points
Translates to...
Tijd
Verschijning
Geur
Smaak
Punten
These could be used in an emergency if JDAW has to depart before a Dutch speaker confirms the precise translations.

Hi Herman,
Of course that's possible! The Guimaraens 1984 is a lovely addition to the list and it will be great to see you again.

Hi Julian, I am on holiday now and have limited access to internet, but I will send Joost an email and ask him to have a look at the placemats. Derek's translations are spot on! Only possible change: instead of 'verschijning' you could also use 'kleur' (colour).

Hi Julian,
The placemets tasting forms look great.
Some small comments:
- HermanG attends with a FG84
- No translation to Dutch necessary, please keep it in English!
- Can you reserve 2 places for 'Mystery Ports'
Furthermore I think everything is great!!!
Santé,
Joost

Hi Axel,
That sounds really great! You're really filling the gaps... Now we have almost have the last 40 years of Fonseca complete, what are we still missing and can we complete?
I think Fonseca 1980 and 2007?
Santé,
Joost

80 is one of the worst Vintage Ports I have ever had. We had an 80s Horizontal at AHBs house and I brought a 80 Fonseca Magnum and we had additionally one normal bottle and all were way below Fonseca standards. So there is no need to bring this.
But I think we are missing the two 05s and 04 as well, arent we? I do have all bottles here (04 Guimaraens, 05 Panascal and Guimaraens and 07). Is anyone really about to get them complete? Anyone willing to adopt?

What a perfect combination of wonderful hosts, perfectly made food and a very good lineup of Port bottles. Thanks Ronnie and Joost for organising all this and inviting us.
Furthermore thanks as well for not bringing football to the table. I really enjoyed just tasting and chatting about the port. .
Julian: I will post a Review thread as soon as someone explains to me how to link the TNs to the Review thread. I just wrote an email to Alex K.
Thanks again for an amazing evening with the soccer world champions

Fabulous day, evening, night. Thank you to Joost and Sandra for being such wonderful hosts and providing the baby with the biggest hair I've ever seen - Noor's adorable.
Thanks to Ronald and Maartje for coming over and making it an event and providing the new Romeo of Utrecht, Luka. Thanks to Karen (spelling) and Chris for the fabulous food and thanks to Jeroen and the lovely Leontien, who I didn't even see this time, for providing me with a couch to sleep on.
Great to see everybody again. Food was excellent, Ports were great and the company absolutely outstanding.

Just before the WC final I have a bit of time to post from my iPod so I'll make it short. Thanks all for making it a great evening, and especially Joost and Sandra for their wonderful hospitality and Karen and Chris for the lovely food. Axel, thank you for providing the 08 samples and polos! I'll post my TN's when we get back from holiday mid August.

No need for thanks, you can't be expected to do it for all tastings. I've sorted a spreadsheet that can be used with an SQL download for future reference. If somebody posts the TN threads I can knock the links out in about a minute (maybe two).
