1970 Dow vintage port
Slightly nettley nose, with lots of sweet plums. Medium bodied; sweet and with some tannins still showing. Fruit is restrained, and showing lovely mature secondary fruit flavours. Lively in the mouth with good development. The finish is full of redcurrants, slightly unripe but sweetened and flavoursome. 90/100. Drunk with no decanting on 15 July 2010.

Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

This was a very nice wine indeed. Again, a bit of heat and spice, but felt there was more fruit, rounder and clearly sweeter than the others, though not very deep/complex. 88pts
I almost sprained my wrist patting myself on the back for having guessed this correctly. Many thanks to Wolfgang for offering up the second bottle!
