1977 Smith Woodhouse vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, still opaque. Warm nose of cloves and pine cones, very sweet and intense. Full bodied, full-flavoured and with a dry cedar wood core from the distinct tannins which are still in the wine. An astonishing aftertaste, huge in size and never-ending in length. An enormous port with decades of life ahead of it. 93/100. Drunk 24 November 2010.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
