Initial entry of chlorine but that blew off with some air time.
Dusty cocoa powder and cranberries flood the nose leaving a very pretty fruity smell.
Tastes of strawberry liquor blended with kirsch liquor backed by a ton of brown sugar finishing slightly short and sweet.
A very interesting port and one I wouldn't mind picking up more of at 30$/bottle.

Re: 1994 Petre
I have drunk (and still have) some of the Petre 1995. I didn't realise that there was a 1994 made.
My understanding is that this is a "second label" port made by Dirk from grapes not used for the Niepoort blend, which is intended to mature more quickly than the full blend.

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Re: 1994 Petre
My understanding is that they made this wine especially for a big customer from Belgium who s name (or sons name is Peter (Petre)). It should be the original stuff in there, no blending.
