FG57. Red, with a hint of brown. Nose soft, with some tawnification. In mouth a very soft start, then heat and tobacco. End soft, sweet and long.

Mid red and burnt ochre in tone with and orange-pink rim; 20% opaque. Beautiful nose of lively cherry, swirling livens up the bouquet with some moist tobacco — a gorgeous nose. Medium bodied, a little slow to develop on the palate but dusty cherry eventually builds up in volume to reach very impressive levels. Air makes the wine much bigger. Swallowing releases a burst of gentle heat before a long finish of sweet liquorice. Big flavours; very sweet but with a great twist of citrus zest. 85/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
