F60. Wonderful red, 40% opaque. Nose recorded as ‟cherry?”. To taste cloying red fruit. End weaker than some older ports at this table. Again tobacco, but cigarette rather than cigar.

Deep orange in colour, turning pale rose on the rim. A swirl brings the vibrant Fonseca cherry to the fore, slightly hot, slightly cloying. Smooth and balanced on the palate; very secondary with dates and walnuts and a delicious hint of nutmeg. A beautiful texture. A little heat on the aftertaste, but this settles into a warm glow to leave the quince and nutmeg finish rolling around the tongue. Lovely elegant port, prefect for drinking now. 92/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
