Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.
Undated Barros LBV. Purple, 100% opacity. Very big. Very hot. Alas a brief moment of mid-palate roughness. Given two years in bottle this might be good. Apparently £18.

I noted the year down as 2005 and I don't think there was more than one LBV on the table, so I think that's safe to assume. Barros 2005 LBV
Very spirity on the nose, somewhat disjointed in the mouth; unappealing.

I have this recorded as the 2005 Barros LBV, bottled in 2011. I would suggest changing both the title of this thread and also in the first post of the review thread.
Bottled 2011. Very dark in colour, an opaque red. Quite closed on the nose. Restrained entry, big tannins and modest fruit - the balance is not quite there. A big finish, tingling the iniside of the lips and with mild, chalky tannins and dry blackcurrant skin. A great finish that saves the wine from being quite poor. 81/100.
The people manning the table were not able to tell me whether this is traditional or filtered.

Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.
2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
