Anything but vintage II
It's summer time, so time for an offline with tawnies, whites, colheitas, LBVs, crusted - in fact anything - except VP..
Crusting pipe perhaps? Dates that suit?
I'm free on most dates this month - but may nip over to the US second week of next month..

Re: Anything but vintage II
I have a couple of good candidates to choose from.
With the exception of this week, I am generally free.

Re: Anything but vintage II
I’m leaving on Monday for about a month so although I’d love to come, I don’t think it’ll be possible.
Re: Anything but vintage II
Despite resolving to have a low key (low alcohol) week, I could be persuaded if you were keen for this to be called at short notice.JacobH wrote:I’m leaving on Monday for about a month so although I’d love to come, I don’t think it’ll be possible.

What nights are you free? Without wishing to hijack Tom’s thread, I’d be keen for a preliminary non-vintage tasting!RAYC wrote:Despite resolving to have a low key (low alcohol) week, I could be persuaded if you were keen for this to be called at short notice.

I could be free Thursday - for a warm-up if necessary - if it's too short notice for others..

Assuming Thursday does not become the said event, I would be keen on the theme "Anything but vintage II" as I have something very suitable for this! My availability will be marginal though, so chose a date and I will see what I can do. (Kids!)

I am coming from Slough so will be there by 7.00/7.15, but will not be offended if you start without me.

I'll be in London on Thursday but will be at the cricket in the evening. Have fun, chaps, I'll think of you as I pass by Covent Garden.

Re: Anything but vintage II
Would anyone be able to get there a bit earlier (say 6 or even before?). It looks like I might have to leave before eating, so an earlier start would be good for me.
Do we need to book a table?

I do my best to get out early enough to arrive for 6, but cannot commit.JacobH wrote:Would anyone be able to get there a bit earlier (say 6 or even before?). It looks like I might have to leave before eating, so an earlier start would be good for me.

Yes - especially if that is the royal "we"!JacobH wrote:Do we need to book a table?
There is one other TPF member who may attend, but 5 should still be suitable for the board room.

Re: Anything but vintage II
Ok, but considering the time and that the previously full half-bottle of Croft LBV beside me is now empty, I’ll give them a ring tomorrow, unless anyone has an objections?RAYC wrote:Yes - especially if that is the royal "we"!

Hi there,
had not seen initially this thread and was not sure if I can make it. Should work now. However would prefer to start at 6:00 PM in order to leave ealier. Will have a gym session on Friday morning
Also just for clarification, the theme means I can legitimatelly bring a sherry or a Australian Tawny/VP type wine, Madeira, Malaga or any colheita or Tawny type of wine?
Sorry but sometimes i do not fully understand the English language
regards

This was the memo from AbV I. Tom might be able to confirm whether it still holds true!uncle tom wrote: .. a little wine would be fine - a decent madeira also maybe; even a sherry - if it promises to be really good!
An easy agenda - just no VP (for once!)

Invoking rule 39(c), I’ll make an executive decision that anything goes: tawny, sherry, ‟Ports” from the New World, madeira, masala, vins doux naturels are all welcome.RAYC wrote:This was the memo from AbV I. Tom might be able to confirm whether it still holds true!

I’ve booked the Board Room tomorrow from about 6 since that seems to be when some of the early people can make it

Plus - apparently - this is only the warm-up and not the real AbV II...
